Presidential Initiative Promotes Wellness, Civility, and Collaboration

CBA members, Special Olympics athletes, and their friends and family gathered for a 5k walk/run in support of Special Olympics Connecticut on April 30 at Kinsmen Brewing Company. A presidential initiative of Daniel J. Horgan, the event allowed attendees to participate in recreational athletics, socialize with colleagues, and support Special Olympics Connecticut. In the weeks preceding the event, the CBA raised funds from its membership for Special Olympics Connecticut.

Participants in the 5k walk/run gathered together outside on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail outside of Kinsmen Brewing Company.

Participants convened at Kinsmen Brewing Company and, guided by Attorney Jonathan Friedler who helped organize the event, followed the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail south to Cheshire before turning back to return to the brewery. After the 5k walk/run, all were welcomed to a reception which provided attendees with an opportunity to socialize with other participants as well as learn more about Special Olympics Connecticut at an informational booth the organization had set up.

“I’d like to thank everyone who participated in Collaboration for a Cause through donating to Special Olympics Connecticut, participating in the 5k walk/run, or simply joining us at Kinsmen Brewing Company,” stated CBA President Daniel J. Horgan. “This initiative has helped to support a great cause and reflects the presidential themes of my bar year: wellness, civility, and collaboration.”
